Why Measurements Matter

Accurate measurements will ensure that I am able to choose the pattern that will give you the best fit. Follow the instructions below to learn how to take three key measurements: bust, waist, and hip.

How To Measure For Your Dress:

1. Make sure you are wearing thin clothing and the undergarments that you intend to wear with your dress.

2. Use a cloth tape measure or, if you don’t own a tape measure, use a piece of string to take each measurement and then measure the string against a ruler or yardstick.

3. For each measurement, make sure the tape measure is level with the floor all the way around your body. Pull the tape measure tight against your body and then release it slightly so that the tape rests comfortably against you. “Bouncing” the tape measure like this ensures a comfortable fit.

4. Following the instructions above, measure around the fullest point of your bust.

5. To find your natural waist, bend from side to side. Your natural waist is at the point that your sides naturally crease. Place the tape measure around your natural waist and, following the instructions above, take your waist measurement.

6. Following the instructions above, measure around the fullest point of your hips and buttocks.

7. Record each measurement to the nearest half inch.

Great job! Provide these measurements where prompted, and I will make your dress in the size that will fit you best.
